It's unknown what was so controversial about Max Gilgovic's 1976 "Squatchploitation" film DEATH SHRIEK OF THE DEVOLVED AKA WHERE THE FOOTPRINTS END, though whatever it was it caused the film censorship board to order the destruction of all copies of the film and all marketing materials, the cast and crew's silence bought.

A few theories exist as to why that may be though, from the film being rumored to contain inordinate amounts of animal cruelty or sexual violence, to conspiracy theories claiming the film as really being directed by the mythical Maddox Gould, a man considered to have died in 1931, if he even existed at all. Conspiracy theorists claim this director was so controversial that every single one of his works was erased from history, even as he continued to evade the law and produce films throughout his life and many faked deaths.

Some people even speculate that the movie was a documentary, a snuff film in which real sasquatches were located and slaughtered on camera, or in which hapless hunters were sent out to be slaughtered by a tribe of particularly sick and aggressive sasquatches themselves.

Whatever the truth is, all that is left is this heavily damaged master copy of the soundtrack from The Commatica, and a recreation by Trevor Henderson of the original poster from the burnt retrieved scraps found in a private collection, though the title there was THEY BLOT OUT ALL MOONLIGHT, it is widely considered to be from the same project.

I don't know what it is, but in DWTD's discography this record really stands out to me. Picking a favourite track is difficult because all of the songs sound incredible to me, but POISON is probably the most fresh and energetic song in my opinion. zWarhead
